Atmos Optimus 510 review

My latest acquisition in my e-cigarette story is the Atmos Optimus X. I bought this e-cig to spearhead my renewed effort to quit smoking. I bought this e-cig in the city of Chicago for fifty dollars at a smoke shop in Wrigleyville. There were many models to choose from at the store and the clerk give me his opinion on all of them. He felt this would be the best option for me. I was weary and suspicious but I thought I would give this e-cigarette a try. The pricepoint was right, there was brand recognition but the device was sort of lacking nice packaging and accesories compared to the other devices that I saw in the store that day. Granted, the other devices that were better packaged were twice as much. I only notice these things because I appreciate package design and went to school for graphic design. Anyhow, the purchase was made and I began charging the device.

Charging the Atmos I highly recommend a proper initial charge with any of these devices to reduce the effects of battery memory on these ecigs. The device is shipped with a lithium battery that is fully discharged. Be sure to give the atmos ecig or any e-cig a full charge before using the device. A full charge for the atmos optimus e-cig is about six hours. If you charge it for a few hours and out of impatience, begin to use it you could reduce the long term capacity for the battery. This is common with most batteries in many devices today. The Atmos Optimus X that I purchased came with a USB charger with a short cord. I thought this could be problematic but luckily I had a USB wallcharger from Walgreens that enabled me to plug it into the wall If you are on the computer all day then just simply plug it in directly to your computer’s USB port. The ecig charger has a multi color LED bulb that indicates the charging status. When you plugin the charger to the wall or computer without the ecig attached to it, it shows a solid green light on the plug. This shows that the charger is receiving power and is ready to charge the e-cig. Simply unscrew the battery from the Optimus clearomizer cartridge (left to loosen and right to tight!) and attach it to the USB battery charger. Once the battery is attached to the charger, the LED on charging plug immediately turns a solid red and the blue LED on the ecig battery will flash about five times. Keep the e-cig on the charger until the plug’s LED light turns back to solid green. Green means go! Now go ahead and remove the battery from the charger by unscrewing it by turning to the left. Charging the Atmos

I highly recommend a proper initial charge with any of these devices to reduce the effects of battery memory on these ecigs. The device is shipped with a lithium battery that is fully discharged. Be sure to give the atmos ecig or any e-cig a full charge before using the device. A full charge for the atmos optimus e-cig is about six hours. Filling the Atmos Ecig

e-liquids for the atmos optimus x
There are many e liquids to choose from to fill the Atmos Optimus e-cig.
The next step that has to be taken is the filling of e-liquid into the clear resevoir catridge. This is accomplished by unscrewing the black mouthpiece from the clear container. I recommend laying down a piece of paper towel or newspaper just in case there is a spill. Take a look at what Atmos calls its “Optimus Clearomizer Cartridge.” There is an easy to read liquid volume gauge that runs along one side of the clear cylinder. Note that the gauge does not go past 1.6 ML! There is a reason for this and you should never fill past that top line. It could comprimise the unit and cause performance issues.

Using your e-liquid or e-juice bottle (or liquid syringe), gently squeeze a few drops into the opening. Be mindful of the hollow metal tube in the center. You never want to squeeze e-liquids into this hollow tube. It facilitates the airflow that is needed to produce the vapor for smoking. I have accidentally spilled a small amount of e-juice into this tube. While the device didn’t break, it failed to produce vapor until the inside of the hollow tube was free of liquid. I found the best way to accomplish the refill is to tilt the e-liquid bottle to its side and not aim for the center but drop the liquid down the side of the clear e-cig cartridge so you miss the air tube entirely. Another tip that I have to make this process easier is to take a toothpick. and gently plug the hole as you refill. That extra step should not be needed if you are mindful of what you are doing. Replace the black mouthpiece tightly to the cartridge to seal the unit securely.

Operation of the Atmos

To use the device, simply push the button that runs along the side of the device. If you just filled the unit or are using it for the first time. Heat the liquid for a few seconds before putting it to your mouth for the first inhale. If the device does not work when you push the button, it may be locked. Unlock the safety mechanism by pressing the button five times. Bring the device to your mouth and as you push the button….gently inhale. You should hear a slight sizzle as the liquid heats up. The liquid should continue to heat so long as the button is pressed but the heating will stop after 6-8 seconds and the blue light will blink five times. If the blue light blinks on the unit more than five times, it is time for a recharge. Simply, unscrew the battery and place it back on the charger. It might be a good idea to rest the cartridge with the black mouthpiece orientated up. This could prevent some leakage from the cartridge, although this has not been a serious issue for me.

REVIEW OF OPTIMUS X BY ATMOS

An okay entry into e-cigs

An okay entry into e-cigs

Overall, I am extremely pleased with this device. The e-cig allowed me to give up conventionally smoking with no problem for the first week. The e-liquid situation is highly variable. There are many different products to use available at your local smoke shop or head shop. The first e-liquid was quite strong and actually wore me out for the first few days. I switched to a lighter liquid and I feel better with that but it could be a little stronger. I find that a full charge on the Atmos Optimus X will last most of the day without a problem. It just depends on how much I am using it.

I feel like device produces more than enough vapor to give the ecig a cigarette like throat sensation. It feels almost like I am actually smoking. I think it was low on liquid once and I noticed that the wick ropes became darkened. This hasn’t effected device performance but I am keeping an eye on it. I bought a basic starter kit, at what I feel was a low price, but I do wish I invested more and bought the kit that comes with two batteries. That way I can keep one on the charger and rotate them out. Consider that if you plan on purchasing this model. Atmos offers many different e-cig units and they are pretty well known for being a quality provider of e-cigarette devices. I have no complaints about the device and would reccomend it to a friend.

Keep in mind that this review was given after about three weeks of continuous usage. I will update this website with any problems that I encounter with the device but so far so good.
